Tahiti Fashion Week is a leading fashion & culture event in French Polynesia that showcases the creativity, craftsmanship, and identity of local designers, artisans, models — all infused with the unique heritage of the islands.

Key Info: Dates & Venue

  • When: 15-19 October 2025.

  • Where: InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa, Faa’a, Tahiti.

  • Format: Three nights of fashion shows (Moana, Poerava evenings), model competition, presentation of new collections, plus events honoring traditional artisans.

What’s Special for 2025

  1. Artisan Traditional Showcase
There is a call for traditional artisans to participate, highlighting local craftsmanship. Twelve artisans will be chosen to create unique wearable pieces (though not full garments) using local natural materials.

  2. Model Casting & International Opportunities
The model contest is a big part of TFW. Local talent are scouted, and winners or finalists may be offered the opportunity to link up with international agencies (for example in Milan).
Candidates must meet certain criteria (height, presentation, etc.), and personality is considered as much as looks.

  3. Cultural Fusion & Local Identity
The five-star resort venue will be transformed into a stage blending high fashion and Polynesian aesthetics: pareos, fabrics, tapa, nacre (mother of pearl), Perles de Tahiti, Monoï oil, weaving, natural fibers. Rather than just fashion, the event emphasizes a sense of place, culture, and eco-materials.

  4. Visibility & Global Reach
Tahiti Fashion Week aims to be both a local celebration and a platform for international recognition: for designers, models, artisans. It helps put Polynesian fashion on the global map.

Why It Matters

  • Cultural Expression & Preservation: It gives space to traditional crafts, local techniques, and materials — ensuring these remain vibrant and valued.

  • Economic Opportunity: For designers, artisans, and models, it’s a chance to connect with international markets, increase exposure, and grow businesses.

  • Creative Innovation: Blending tradition with contemporary design pushes boundaries — inspiring new aesthetics that are both rooted and forward-looking.

  • Tourism & Identity: It reinforces Polynesia’s identity as a dynamic, creative, and beautiful destination; fashion becomes another way visitors see the islands, beyond beaches and nature.

What to Expect

  • Glamorously staged fashion shows — runway, lighting, production — but with Polynesian cultural references (costumes, motifs, materials).

  • Performances and perhaps dance, traditional music, or art interludes that tie into the cultural narrative.

  • Diverse models, local voices: the contest component will spotlight new faces.

  • Artisan products: accessories and wearable art pieces made by local artisans in carefully curated selections.

  • A chance for the public (locals and visitors) to see both local fashion and emerging international influences.
